Fake creates reality. Have you heard of “Love at First Wag”? This trend originated with AI-generated videos in which pets from animal shelters picked their future families at special events. It’s cute, but horrible for handicapped or older pets who are repeatedly rejected by the people they choose.
Years ago, we believed that AI translation would adapt to different languages. It did. However, languages have changed as well. For example, European languages are becoming more Americanized in their structure (such as noun + adjective instead of adjective + noun, as in English). Not to mention, vocabularies are losing thousands of words and only using the most common ones.
AI is not intelligence. It’s a machine that applies highly complex algorithms. The biggest pitfall is training AI with AI-generated translations, which creates a downward spiral.
That said, AI is a fantastic tool. When trained and used appropriately, it improves quality, accuracy, speed, and obviously, cost.
