This section is one of the most difficult part of Web Localization. The content must be changed to be tailored to each specific audience.
Some of the most common of the changes are listed below:
- Forms: zip codes, structure of the country (states, provinces, departments, etc.)
- Tel. numbers: most 800 numbers cannot be used from other countries
- Time zones: when to reach you
- Lines of products: some items may have to be omitted (i.e. according to the climate, legislation, etc.)
- Policies: have to be modified according to international laws
- Technology: some countries have little or no access to what you use daily
- Visuals: have to be adapted to each country
- Message: some audiences are more direct while others favor more subdued statements
Each regional project manager involved in your project will customize your content to the destination countries and create a log of these changes for your approval.
